Baltimore-based band Surf Harp released the EP, Galapagos, on cassette in 2013. The jangly, surfy pop songs are a nice compliment to any sunny summer afternoon. Lead by multi-instrumentalist, Phil Bolton, the band is gearing up to release their debut full-length which is being mixed by Mat Leffler-Schulman at Mobtown Studios.
This album is quite different from the EP. It’s loud and layered, featuring screeching guitar tracks and heavy percussion. Bolton’s vocals have taken a larger role on the new tracks as well, which is evident in energetic tune, “Leather.” The video, which was released Sunday, features found footage of suburbanites dancing — all taken over the last several years on Bolton’s cell phone.
Enjoy the video and the song and stay tuned for their album, which should drop in the fall.
