This exhibit marks the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. First on display at The Cooper Union in New York, the exhibit includes 24 bold and beautiful posters from OdesaCityLetters, a museum devoted to lettering legacy in Odesa, Ukraine, celebrating Ukrainian culture, design, and typography. The posters are a small sampling of hundreds of posters created using a traditional style of Ukrainian graphics and typography, and including powerful, moving, and witty statements about Ukrainian courage and culture in the face of Russian aggression.

The exhibit was first on display in New York City at The Cooper Union. Lee Davis, Co-Director of the MICA Center for Social Design and EDC Curator is curating the exhibit in Baltimore in collaboration with the New York curator, Alexander Tochilovsky at The Cooper Union, in collaboration with Serhiy Rovynskyi, Creator, OdesaCityLetters in Odesa, Ukraine.

The exhibit will be on display from February 19-March 15, 2024, at two locations in Baltimore to increase access and visibility:

– MICA Brown Center (1301 W Mt Royal Ave, Baltimore, MD 21217) – 3rd floor graphic design gallery

– Center for Architecture and Design (100 N Charles St Suite P-101, Baltimore, MD 21201) – in the Center’s gallery in downtown Baltimore on the ground floor of the landmark building designed by Mies van der Rohe.

The exhibit is made possible thanks to the financial and in-kinds support of our collaborating partners: MICA Center for Social Design, MICA Graphic Design, MICA Office of the Provost, Baltimore-Odesa Sister City Committee, The Center for Architecture & Design, Ecological Design Collective, AIGA Baltimore, and BMoreArt.
