Greg Holmes (Instagram: @gregholmesstudio) – Artist Statement:

Combining clay, metal, and wood with fine craftsmanship, in ways that complement each other, has become my fascination as a ceramic artist. Whether they are wheel-thrown symmetrical vessels or assembled convex/concave vessels, the addition of copper, silver, and wood accents to these wood-fired forms has become my signature approach to ceramics. As the creative process continues to evolve, I look to nature for interesting textures, earth-tone colors, metals, and woods to create surface treatments that I find exciting and aesthetically stimulating.

Greg Holmes Bio:

BA Art, SUNY Plattsburgh NY, in photography & ceramics. After 30+ yrs in creative direction, photography, & design, I restarted ceramics. 2015 I launched my website & began showing ceramic work. I have participated in 4 ACC Baltimore Craft Shows 2017 – 2022 and had 3 solo shows: 2019 Columbia Art Center & Artists’ Gallery Ellicott City, and 2022 Artists’ Gallery Ellicott City. I was juried into a number of local and national shows (Baltimore Clayworks/Creative Crafts Council/Sandy Spring Museum/District Clay).

Artists’ Gallery in Old Ellicott City is a member-owned gallery.
