You’re invited to celebrate the opening reception of K.G. Rickman’s upcoming solo exhibition, A Visual Celebration of Life, The Universe, and… Everything?, on May 16, 6 – 8 PM, featuring a special live performance by pianist Sol Fitzgerald.
Share some kindness—write a message of hope on a postcard that will be distributed through Hearts and Ears, Inc., a Trans-led, peer-run wellness and recovery center supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals in Baltimore. Prints and notecards will be available for purchase.
Art asks or answers questions. In this selection, you can see Rickman asking herself what happens if she uses (fill in the blank) in this work? How could she get the feel of splashing water, feathers, foliage, clouds, tentacles… How could she push and play with materials to get something that is beyond the sum of its parts? Art for her is about improvisation. Knowing when to follow the rules and when to break them.
She chose the title “Life, the Universe, and… Everything?” because she’s been exploring a range of subjects from portraits to space images to creatures. A little bit of everything went into this show.
Thanks, Douglas Adams for the inspiration for the title.
The exhibition is on display at Gallery Unicorn from May 12 to July 13, 2025 on Sundays, following services, from 11:30am – 1pm or by appointment. To request an appointment, email Lisa Lublonski ([email protected]) with your name, phone number, and preferred appointment date and time.
