Jo Fleming Contemporary Art presents “Balancing Act – Women’s Voices, Women’s Stories” February 1 – March 4th with works by regional artists Juliette Manolie, Cindy Winnick, Maureen Farrell and Isabelle Robinson.

Juliette Manolié’s abstract paintings contain representational elements that invite the viewer to enter a hermetic visual space where unconscious forces entice the viewer to free-associate recognizable shapes. This association begins to unlock the possibility of a conversation about shared experiences and relationships.  Cindy Winnick’s colorful fabric sculptures address issues such as aging, identity and gender roles with sensitivity and humor. Maureen Farrell’s subjects have a quiet presence that speak about self acceptance and hope. While Isabelle Robinson’s paintings study ideas of body image, the passing season’s of life and time and our transformation into the spiritual realm. The common thread in Robinson’s work is transformation.

“Balancing Act” showcases a variety of media and styles including whimsical fabric sculpture and paintings from abstract to representational that create rich diversity of work that moves the senses and includes a spirited dialogue about the human experience.

The exhibition coincides with Women’s History Month (March) a celebration of women’s contributions in our society.
