baptized devotion is a solo exhibition by Oreoluwa Akinyode displaying their devotion to the practice of conjuring images into the physical world. It is a display of exalting the process, the process of self reflection, the process of welcoming spirits’ intimate gestures into one’s practice through the use of alternative still and moving photographic processes.
Oreoluwa Akinyode is a griot telling stories through the language of moving images, still images, sound, and gestures conjuring tender prayers of urgency that ask one to recall one’s history. Utilizing analog and digital processes, they are destined to honor West African spiritual traditions and tell stories drenched in destiny, history, emotion, and passion.
