This is the second Bearing Witness exhibition – an in-person exhibition following a virtual exhibition held earlier this spring.
The exhibition runs June 12-August 29, 2021
The exhibition, Bearing Witness – the artists’ tenacious view, explores how the events of 2020 have impacted the creative process and psyche of working artists. 60+ artists from the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area are included in the exhibition. The group exhibition showcases a wide range of artist’s viewpoints working in various media including: drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. Artists were asked to write a statement reflecting on the theme of the exhibition and the events of 2020 as related to their work presented and their art process.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by HAC|HG and a grant from Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. Artists participating in the in-person exhibition previously participated in the virtual exhibition of the same name held in the early spring of 2021.
Both exhibitions are curated by Jessica Devilbiss a HAC|HG exhibiting artist member who currently works as an Emerging Professionals Program Guide at the Glenstone Museum in Potomac, MD. Bridget Z. Sullivan, the Curatorial Director of HAC|HG, is coordinating and facilitating the events.
