From the earliest hand-drawn experiments of the silent era to today’s computer-generated images, animators have pioneered new ways of bringing their ideas to life on the screen. Join host Matt Barry for a program of landmark animated works including the character animation of Winsor McCay, Ub Iwerks, Disney and Fleischer, abstract experiments by Norman McLaren and Oskar Fischinger, Lotte Reiniger’s silhouette cut-outs, stop-motion by Ladislas Starevitch and Jan Svankmajer, and CGI from Pixar, all presented in 16mm prints from the Pratt film collection.
