Baltimore Clayworks is excited to present the work of resident artist, Emily Lamb in her solo exhibition Coalescence. Opening March 6th with a reception to be held April 10th (details to come).

Through the combination of ceramics and glass into exquisite works that celebrate the strengths of each, Lamb’s work possesses a resolute power amidst the fragility. The transparency of glass is complemented by her sensitive modeling skills in the clay as expressive figurative narratives transpire from the synergy of materials. People are engulfed by bulbous glass forms, amorphous illustrations of emotions and anxieties. The opaque and translucent qualities offer a poignant insight into what is going on inside their minds, what they share and what they keep hidden.

Lamb works to have harmony between “The merging of ceramic and glass, operating under different rules from one another, symbolizes a parallel fusion of both physical and mental states. Combining matter with mind represents my investigation into the mystery behind our magnetism to these two paradoxes and our innate curiosity for enigmas coupled by our drive to resolve ambiguities.”
