Help the Folger bring a “lost play” back to life! Arrive early for floral-themed cocktail and food purchases at the Folger’s new cafe, Quill & Crumb. At 7pm, Folger Fellow Douglas Clark will share his exciting recent discovery—a quirky pastoral comedy set on the Greek island of Samos.
Originally written to be performed for royalty, the Folger’s unique English-language version of the play also contains added scenes for a broader audience. After the talk, attendees may volunteer to read parts in these “lost” scenes, from an anthropomorphized Marigold to lovesick nymphs and shepherds and the aptly named character “Prologue.” Space will also be held for Q&A.
