VisArts in partnership with Federal Realty Investment Trust is proud to present an antidote to the “Pandemic Blues” with an installation of Cory Orberndorfer’s paintings of frozen delights.
“I am a lover of pop culture, Americana, and life’s simple pleasures.
My popsicle paintings are simple images – slightly shiny, and dripping with temptation. The popsicle embodies an essence of innocence, youth, nostalgia, and the dream of an endless summer. Despite the hard edges, spray paint is used to provide both soft-focus contours and the crystallized texture of frozen treats. Minimal in their shape, form, and color, these works do not ask the viewer to deal with the painting itself but with their own memories.”
