Curated by Safiyah Cheatam and Daniel Flounders, Deconstructed and Reestablished explores new narrative relationships between members of the first two Islam & Print cohorts including seven artists Suldano Abdiruhman, Madyha Leghari, Tayyab Magsood, Anysa Saleh, Mina Sarfaraz, Hoor Imad Sherpao, and Leili Arai Tavallaei plus the artist-curators Safiyah Cheatam and Dan Flounders. I&P celebrates the diversity of mediums its artists wield, allowing for endless multimedia opportunities. In addition to the print editions made during the I&P fellowship, the exhibition flaunts artworks in the artists’ original mediums of sculpture, textile, painting, and more.
Islam & Print (I&P) is a community print fellowship housed in Baltimore, created by Dan Flounders and Safiyah Cheatam in 2022. I&P aims to champion diverse Muslim experiences and strengthen career readiness by building a network of regional, emerging visual artists of all mediums through a studio arts fellowship.
