Join us in the Driskell Center Plaza (outside The Driskell Center main entrance) at 4:30 p.m. for the much-anticipated reveal and dedication of the new, outdoor sculpture by Melvin (“Mel”) Edwards. This will be followed by a short reception, before our 6:00 p.m. David C. Driskell Distinguished Lecture by Dr. Steven Nelson, which will be held in the Driskell Center Gallery. The Distinguished Lecture kicks off the weekend of the 34th James A. Porter Colloquium on African American Art and Art of the African Diaspora.
