  1. L. Briscoe: About Paradise

Through his work E.L. Briscoe attempts to create an illustration of the manner in which he observes the world around him. He pulls from experiences of youth and juxtaposes those against what he has learned and experienced over the years. He is particularly fascinated by the way societal phenomena have been rationalized and communicated through entertainment media. Briscoe attempts to look back at the media he absorbed as a child and recreates those experiences as an adult in order to understand whether or not they have helped or hindered his understanding of the world around him. Some of these messages bring about a sense of calm perspective and others create more questions. Each successive work is the furthering of that message. Leaving room for more investigation.
