The American Visionary Art Museum will hold its annual free event, Logan Visionary Conference on Sunday, March 24 from 2–4 PM on the 3rd floor of the Jim Rouse Visionary Center. This year’s conference, themed “Habitats and Havens: Stewardship of Our Sanctuaries,” is designed to foster engaging discussions on creative environments, thoughtful stewardship, and becoming the architects of our collective future.
The conference will be emceed by Peabody Award winner Marc Steiner, and include presentations from the following esteemed speakers:
FEATURED SPEAKERS
- Loring Cornish – A native of the Druid Hill Park neighborhood in Baltimore City, artist Loring Cornish’s row home serves as both gallery to his artwork and a floor-to-ceiling, indoor and outdoor, work of art. Cornish continues to constantly transform his current Baltimore space with new incarnations of his work, warmly welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Annalise Flynn – Annalise Flynn is an independent curator and art historian based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She manages SPACES on behalf of the Kohler Foundation. Flynn’s work centers on highlighting vernacular creative activity, using material, collective memory, and place as research pillars.
- Shelley Halstead – Founder of Black Women Build, Shelley Halstead has led the organization in completing 17 houses since August 2019 and has 25 more in their pipeline to be completed in the next 18 months. Shelley is also creating third spaces in her neighborhood by building artist live/work space, a cafe, and a food hall. She believes wholeheartedly that if you build it, they will come.
- Evan Woodard – Evan Woodard is a historian, explorer, and historical tourism influencer whose work has been featured on prominent platforms like Discovery, NBC, CBS, Fox, NPR, and the Washington Post. His passion lies in bringing the rich tapestry of history to life through engaging storytelling and captivating videos, which has resonated with a diverse audience on his Instagram account, @SalvageArc.
