Join us for a brand new workshop: Help Me, Help You, Help Us: A Social Practice Experiment in Neighborly Advice with facilitator Aisha Nailah White.
Come learn how to be a neighbor and help each other move out of paralysis. Help me, Help you, Help Us, is a growing fake cult of the disillusioned. Serving as a creative project of artists, Aisha Nailah White, this cult seeks to welcome lost members of any nation that seek solutions to their disillusionment with the state, authority or just life. Cult members are inducted into our community through the development of skills such as; Trauma informed care, motivational coaching, and community engagement, all with the aim of training community members in engaging their neighbors in their basic needs. The only thing that will save us, is us.
Aisha is a social practice art and arts organizer whose practice centers fellowship and public health. Her work seeks to question existing power dynamics and develop alternative networks of care. Using, sculpture, organizing, photography and printmaking as tools for community empowerment.
Yours, Mine, and Ours: Works by the Strong and Sensitive is presented by Our Art Room (OAR), an incubator for emerging and growing Baltimore artists to expand networks, share resources, and provide accountability to each other in a community setting. OAR is a critique series and collective of women, femmes, and gender non-conforming artists in their early careers. This project is sponsored by The Grit Fund, Topo Chico, Flourish, KSM Candle, Mera Kitchen Collective, RUMA Collective, Eubie Blake Center.
