Inner Space Tango Fest 2025 brings an extraordinary evening of Argentine tango music and dancing to Baltimore on Friday, April 25, featuring Europe’s premier Argentine tango ensemble, Cuarteto Rotterdam. The “Grand Milonga” takes place in the Grand Hall of the Church of the Messiah, 5801 Harford Road, where the community is invited to come together for dancing, live music and dinner during an evening of Argentine tango inspiration. Ticketing and registration is now open at www.InnerSpaceTangoFest.com.

At the heart of Argentine tango culture, a milonga is a mix of social gathering, dance party, and musical soiree. The Inner Space Tango grand milonga begins at 7 p.m. with a buffet dinner and dancing with music provided by Harvey Schwartz, who has deejayed tango festivals throughout the world. At 9 p.m. Cuarteto Rotterdam begins the first of two sets of live tango music for dancing (9 p.m. and 11 p.m.)

Cuarteto Rotterdam, a chamber music quartet from Berlin, Germany, provides a sound experience ranging between tradition and modernity, playing music from the Golden Age of tango from the 1940s while incorporating contemporary Argentine and European tango pieces in their performances. Musicians include Michael Dolak (Germany) on bandoneón, Susanne Cordula Welsch (Germany) on violin, Judy Ruks (Netherlands) on piano, and Facundo Leónidas Di Pietro (Argentina) on double bass.

As part of Inner Space festivities they will also play  a concert at An Die Musik on April 17 featuring selections from their newest CD released November 2024 Buenos Aires Today highlighting new compositions.

The Inner Space Tango Fest is produced by Artistic Director David Richardson, Argentine Tango Space Project founder. Richardson, a dancer, filmmaker and award-winning author, founded the organization in 2016 to create unique experiences available to everyone that blends learning, dancing and rewarding social occasions. He has learned from some of the most prominent Argentine tango dancers in the world, and danced on three continents and with communities all across the United States.

“I continue to learn more every day about the many facets of Argentine Tango, and I want to share the beauty of the dance,” he said. “I want to help people learn how to move together in space on the dance floor, in ways they may have never considered, but with time will become as natural as breathing.”

The Argentine Tango Space Project has collaborated with numerous businesses and arts venues to bring tango to the Baltimore community, including the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Eubie Blake Cultural Center, the Annual B’More Healthy Expo, Creative Alliance, One World Cafe, An Die Musik and Hamilton Lauraville Main Street.
