Discover how light transforms Baltimore’s public spaces on a FREE Community Light Walk as part of Station North’s Second Friday Art Walk. Guided by insights from the Inviting Light project, a Bloomberg Philanthropies-supported initiative, this walk explores how strategic lighting brings safety, vibrancy, and new life to our city’s streets.
Inviting Light will energize the Station North Arts District with five outdoor site installations curated by Derrick Adams, followed by a year of scheduled events and arts programming curated by José Ruiz for the community to enjoy. The project grew out of research from the Station North Public Space Plan and Signal Station North, which identified lighting as a central way of projecting safety and respect for residents and local businesses in a neighborhood that has suffered from safety concerns and disinvestment.
In addition to introducing Inviting Light, news about other lighting projects and improvements in Station North will be presented as well as lighting resources shared. Meet up at 5 pm for a happy hour drink at the Club Car before setting out on the one-hour walk at 5:30 pm. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Inviting Light is sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies and facilitated by Central Baltimore Partnership in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and Senior Advisor for Arts & Culture and the Neighborhood Design Center.
