About the Artist:
Lang Wethington is an artist and educator who lives and works in Maryland. Whether painting abstract canvases in oil or portraits in watercolor, his pursuit of meticulous detail is a way to practice mindfulness. Lang’s work has been featured in a variety of group exhibits in Maryland and DC and can be found in dozens of private collections.
“My artistic practice is similar to meditation. When meditating, I focus on my breath. When my mind wanders, which it inevitably does, I try to catch it and bring it back to the breath. When painting, I try to focus on the line. When my hand wanders, which it inevitably does, I try to catch it and bring it back to the line. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, I experience the feeling of being present.”
