On Saturday, September 16th, 2023 we meet in the Patterson Park Annex (the Little Park) to welcome Little Amal to Baltimore and show her a home away from home. Join us as she meets new friends, shares her story, and experiences the beauty of Latin American culture that is thriving here in Charm City!

Little Amal is a 12-foot puppet representing a 10 year old Syrian refugee child. She has become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees. This September, Creative Alliance is honored to be a stop on Little Amal’s journey.

Over nine weeks this fall, Amal joins 1,500-plus artists at more than 100 artistic events across 35 towns and cities. The nationwide journey begins in Boston, MA, on September 7 and culminates on November 5 in San Diego, CA.

Creative Alliance along with Baltimore Center Stage, Love Groove Festival, Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, The Charmery, and CHEER (Community Health and Empowerment through Education) will welcome Little Amal to the city of Baltimore September 15-16.

Along her epic cross-country 6,000-mile journey, she will meet with a wide range of displaced and disenfranchised people, including North American Indigenous people, communities of color whose contributions to the story of America have historically been overlooked, recent migrants, and the ancestors of earlier immigrants, to learn more about the stories of the American people who established roots in these communities over the last hundred-plus years.

After the welcome experience in Patterson Park, join a procession to Creative Alliance to experience Tianquiztli, a special Latin American Artisan Market & Festival, where you and Amal can soak in the delicious tastes, powerful sounds, and wonderful colors of the artists and performers living and sharing their culture here in Baltimore.
