National Park Service Suffrage Storymap Launch with Towson University
RSVP to receive login instructions on the day of the event
The women’s suffrage storymap, created by the National Park Service in collaboration with Towson University and its Center for GIS, will go live on August 18 during a virtual launch event hosted by the Peale in Baltimore. The storymap sheds light on the key figures and networks of the women’s suffrage movement using a new technology tool from the National Park Service. This launch event is being held on the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote on August 18, 1920.
The interactive storymap uses historical correspondence to make visible the relationships between the movement’s advocates and their many meeting places. By exploring the map, users can get to know the people involved in the suffrage movement, as well as their relationships and networks, and the geographic reach of their activism.
