In this workshop, participants will learn how to make art by using a folded sheet of square paper. Each section will then be used to create drawings and words that reveal a web of magical stories. In the words of the artist:

“When I was a child my grandfather gave me a folded-up square of paper covered in watercolored drawings. He then proceeded to tell me an elaborate story while unfolding the square slowly. Each fold would reveal another image and continue the magical story. This folded form was first used in Japan, where it is known as a Menko envelope, and used for storing small items like thread. It became popular in the 1700’s in England for writing romantic letters, and was known there as a Victorian puzzle purse. I have used this shape as the basis of many of my current art pieces.”
