Rapid Lemon Productions opens its 2024 season with the Baltimore premiere of The Book of Grace, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks.
Encouraged by his stepmother to return home to South Texas, a young man reunites with his abusive father, unearthing an explosive combination of deep-seated passion and ambition. The Book of Grace explores lives defined by walls, where there’s a “them” for every “us.”
“The Book of Grace offers further evidence that Suzan-Lori Parks thinks big even when she thinks small… The family portrait she paints here is nothing less than a map of a nation that is divided within itself and poised to fall… This play is infused with an exciting emotional ambiguity that transforms its characters into people of splendidly confused humanity.” –Ben Brantley, New York Times
Performances are live and in person at Strand Theater Company, 5426 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD 21214. Tickets are general admission, $20. A special discounted “Industry Night” performance is just $10, on Thursday, January 18.
