“Less is More” started as a challenge to create pieces using a much smaller color palette than used in previous works. This challenge, in combination with a growing interest and deeper understanding of abstract art, took me on an expected journey. I found myself pausing less while in a creative zone. Although there was no sense of urgency, an increase in efficiency arose. There was less self critiquing and judgement. A lot less attachment to finished works. The less is more challenge turned into a mental practice. Less thinking, more doing. Less waiting for the right moment, more making the moment happen. Less of a human being, more of a human doing.
