Sparkle & Shine is a radiant celebration of African diasporic culture through paintings, photography, and sculpture that quite literally gleam. Each work in the exhibition incorporates luminous materials—gold and silver leaf, glitter, mica, or light—evoking the brilliance, beauty, and resilience of the global Black experience.

From richly adorned portraits to vibrant street scenes, Sparkle & Shine honors the people, places, spiritual traditions, and textures that define diasporic life. The featured photography offers a rare and intimate glimpse into Ghana in 2016—capturing the glow of everyday life, from the depths of gold mines to the bustle of open-air markets. These moments, like the materials used to render them, shimmer with meaning.

Together, these works explore how light—both literal and symbolic—can illuminate histories, honor ancestors, and reflect the splendor of Black life across continents and generations.
