The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) announces a special monthly extension of the Baltimore Farmers’ Market starting in June! The B-Side runs from 11:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. in the same space as the Market — underneath the Jones Falls Expressway at Holliday & Saratoga streets. After the regular Market, enjoy an afternoon of food & drink vendors and a free performance showcase featuring local artists, musicians, doers, and performers.

The first B-Side kicks off on Sunday, June 12, 2022, with PrideFest! Hosted by Baltimore’s 2020 Drag Queen of the Year Evon Dior Michelle, with DJ sets by Trillnatured & Thommy Davis, and a special performance by Kotic Couture. Bring your friends, some lawn chairs, and your most fabulous self to the inaugural B-Side on June 12 and surround yourself with joy, pride, and music.

Then, Baltimore brings the funk to the Farmers’ Market in July with a concert inspired by the film “Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised),” directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, which highlights the story of the momentous 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. In August, enjoy music mashups and local cover bands playing new twists on old favorites. On Labor Day Weekend in September, we’re throwing a back-to-school bash for students of all ages. Finally, BOPA is collaborating with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) for the last B-Side of the season in October.

The Baltimore Farmers’ Market is an economically and socially diverse gathering place for residents where local farms, vendors, and artisans can sell their goods, develop relationships with shoppers, and make fresh food available to the community. The B-Side expands our ability to provide opportunities and visibility to different kinds of artists while creating events that bring people together.

BOPA is currently seeking sponsorships for the B-Side concert series and the Farmers’ Market. If you are interested in learning how you can support these events and the Baltimore arts community, please contact Stacy Handler, Director of Development, at [email protected].

And be sure to follow BOPA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@promoandarts) for the latest information about the B-Side as we reveal more performers, special quests, and visiting artists.
