Currently celebrating their 66th Season of producing theatre, the Arena Players bring August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson to the mainstage. Directed by D. Russell Owens, the fourth play in Wilson’s Century Cycle runs weekends March 13th through March 29th, 2020. The Piano Lesson brings the past, present, and future in conversation with one another in 1930s Pittsburgh. There two siblings envision different futures for their family while arguing over a family heirloom with a storied history. Opening night is Friday, March 13th

The Arena Players, located at 801 McCulloh Street since 1962, is the oldest continuously operating African American community theatre in the United States. They also have the distinction of being Baltimore’s home for African American theatre. As a company, they have produced black theatre for Baltimore audiences since 1953.
