As part of the Bromo ArtWalk, Register Here! From 5 PM – 9 PM
After a period of extensive internal work and rest, we are excited to unveil our newest exhibition — Think Tank! Centered on challenging traditional think tank models by proposing an alternative approach to the production of knowledge, the exhibition features a range of works by Esteban Whiteside and an extensive collection of community sourced books from The Menial Collection, a non-circulating library founded by Maria Emilia Duno and Hayden Right.

Referring to themselves as “universities without students,” traditional think tanks have often framed themselves as neutral and nonpartisan institutions when the reality is that their work is produced in the service of private interests behind closed doors. In its reclamation of the term, Think Tank! proposes an alternative — knowledge produced and shared by its visitors, as students without the university. Taking inspiration from Whiteside’s work, whose loaded political paintings decry any fiction of “nonpartisanship” and instead confront viewers with a sense of urgency in the midst of a world gone mad. Think Tank! is an invitation to visitors to take an active role in producing and sharing knowledge on the subject of protest, dissent, and more!

At NoMüNoMü, we believe that access to knowledge should not be limited to a privileged few and welcome you to use our gallery space to read, work, or just hang out and drink some coffee during our exhibition hours. We want you to be part of the conversation, to challenge existing ideas, and to create new ones!

The exhibition will also feature a programming and a speaker series that will further explore the themes of protest, dissent, and knowledge sharing — stay tuned for details on programming for Think Tank! coming soon…
