Details about the pieces & the Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking? collective:
“Well Ends Well That’s All/Greetings From…” These two pieces have complementary themes – travel and exhaustion – but differing devising processes. “Greetings From…” is a collective creation led by two of our members over the course of the summer, and “Well Ends Well That’s All” is led by a first-time director guiding a devising process in short intense bursts. “Greetings From…” will take you to a mysterious place where lost postcards have an important life, and “Well Ends Well That’s All” will bring you on an amazing journey in which experiences of alienation can be explored in dramatic and meaningful ways!
The Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking? Collective is a group of people who, through spontaneity and a deep well of knowledge and practice, create thought-provoking and humorous theatrical and theatrically-adjacent art. Because our collective works in a variety of spaces that host different types of performing arts – poetry, comedy, performance art, music, and storytelling – we are a connecting force between different DIY art scenes that can often feel isolated. In recent years, we have noticed that Baltimore has lost many theater companies and cultural institutions. Informed by this fact, our collective makes a conscious attempt to produce novel art within our economic limits by leveraging the support of our creative community. Our aim is to provide a resilient alternative form of community theater that is still ambitious in scope and that feels secure in its longevity. It is easier to dream when you know you have time.
