C. Grimaldis Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Anna Fine Foer, Mise en Scène.
Mise en Scène features a survey of collage works where Foer’s interpretations of present-day events unfold into dreamlike worlds. Vibrant colors underscore the whimsical spirit of the collage works, while recurring themes of technology, scientific discovery, alternative energy, as well as natural and unnatural disasters suggest taking a closer look.
Foer’s design sensibility and textile background, both aesthetically and technically, unify each collage as she meticulously assembles traditional collaged digital media, paint, string, and other materials to address issues of the day. While the subject of the artworks varies, each scene is made up of appropriated objects that evoke feelings ranging from grief to irony.
In Mise en Scène multiple narratives emerge, unpacking Foer’s interest in the proximity of concurrent experiences, serving as a reminder of the complexity of such issues.
Anna Fine Foer studied fibers/crafts at Philadelphia College of Art and textile conservation at the Textile Conservation Centre, Courtauld Institute in London.
Anna lives in Baltimore and has two, college graduate sons. Her work has appeared at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Maryland Governor’s Mansion, and the Israeli Embassy. Anna Fine Foer has artwork in the permanent collection of the Haifa Museum of Art and the Beer-Sheva Biblical Museum. She was awarded a prize for the Encouragement of Young Artists for work exhibited in the Artist’s House in Jerusalem.
