Visionary conductor, Steve Hackman makes his return to the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall for the final Fusion concert of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s (BSO) 2022-23 season. Beethoven X. Coldplay transforms Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony into an oratorio, weaving the melodies and lyrics of Coldplay into the original Beethoven and pairing them together based on content and context. It is the alternate “Eroica” Beethoven may have created had he known the music of Coldplay at the time. Awe-inspiring vocalists Malia Civitz, Casey Breves, and Gregory Fletcher join the BSO to perform interpolations of many of Coldplay’s most beloved songs, including “Yellow,” “Viva La Vida,” and “The Scientist”.

Together with collaborative partner, Revival, the award-winning JdV by Hyatt Hotel, the party gets started prior to the concert with the BSO Fusion x Revival celebration. Concertgoers can arrive early to enjoy the Meyerhoff’s “Lit Lobby” experience that includes a live DJ, drink specials, and the opportunity to purchase delicious fare from vendors Emmanuella’s, NiHao, AppleCore’s Bake Shoppe, and The Curly Crumb. As another perk of the partnership, guests attending any BSO concert are able to receive a discounted meal at Topside with their ticket stub while also enjoying a signature cocktail from the Revival bar team and inspired by incoming BSO Music Director Designate Jonathon Heyward. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the cocktail will be donated to the BSO to support its community-based initiatives.

The Fusion series will make its return in the BSO’s new 2023-24 season which kicks off in September.
