David C. Driskell was an American artist, scholar, and curator who was a leading voice in establishing African American art as a distinct field of study. Mr. Driskell passed away in April of last year from complications related to COVID-19. This month, the David C. Driskell Center launched the David C. Driskell Papers Project, which is a transcription initiative that will make his vital work more accessible to the public.

Angela Koukoui, Outreach Coordinator at the University of Baltimore, RLB Library, Special Collections and Archives, will reflect on the life and enduring legacy of this cultural luminary.
