Lord Baltimore Hotel’s “In Good Taste” art exhibition series returns to LB Bistro & Bakery in 2023 with local artist April House, who specializes in abstract encaustic painting and acrylic art. Expressing in the Abstract exhibit will be open to the public from January 12-March 24, 2023.

Pieces by House featured in the show were created using the encaustic wax process (beeswax and tree resin). While heated, the medium is fluid and objects are embedded in fused layers. Once cool, the piece is hard to the touch and retains its texture. Many of the pieces focus on a limited color palette and a dream-like quality of abstraction.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: April C. House pursued a career in art after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design from the Atlanta College of Art (now SCAD Atlanta). As an artist who specializes in encaustic painting and acrylic art, House’s work encompasses a wide array of themes and topics including objects/landscapes and abstract pieces of artwork that focus on color and composition.
