Bringing together objects and gestures relating to luck and fortune, artist kelli rae adams juxtaposes the aspirational ideology of American culture with the increasingly stark economic realities of life in 21st century America. Employing cross-cultural references and participatory elements, the installation also confronts visitors’ preconceptions as they relate to questions of origin, agency, and potential and invites reflection on the dichotomy of failure and success.
