The Jane Austen Society of America [JASNA], Maryland Region and Manor Mill announced a day of scholarship and fun for all Janites on Saturday, June 17. The event, which takes place at the historic Manor Mill, 2029 Monkton Rd, Monkton, MD 21111, begins at 1:00 pm with informative book talks on each of Austen’s six novels, sessions on her life, and presentations on period food and crafts. Included in the ticket price of $30.00 is the day’s programming, a tea station and a number of “Make and Take” period inspired crafts, including Regency Rosettes and Tussie Mussies (small flower bouquets). Add on options include professional photographs with a historic carriage and Custom Regency-style portraits. Proceeds for the day benefit Manor Mill’s Water Wheel Restoration.

“I’m excited to hear the book talks and see the ‘Chemise to Shawl’ presentation.” Said organizer Rita Baker-Schmidt. “Many of our JASNA ladies dress in period costume, and it’ll be interesting to see each layer detailed.” Baker-Schmidt is also presenting “What Jane Ate” a look at Regency food through out the novels and on the Austen family table. “Whether you’ve read all six novels, know Austen thru the movies, or are new to Jane, this is a going to be a great day.”

With 7 locations on the Manor Mill campus, all offering different programming each hour, there’s sure to be something to keep everyone entertained.
