The Homme Gallery is proud to present “Looking Back to the Future: 10-Years of Artistry by Dariana Arias” a retrospective exhibit. The exhibit will run from Saturday May 20th, 2023 to June 3rd 2023, with an opening reception on May 20th, 6pm-9pm, at our Golden Triangle venue located at, 2000 L St. NW Washington D.C. 20036.

For the past decade Dariana Arias has been cultivating her artistic practice here in D.C., as well as promoting Art throughout the various quadrants of the city (SE, NE, NW). She is well-loved by her Adams Morgan community, where she creates and resides. Her artworks combine traditional techniques and contemporary themes that reflect the intersectionality between gender studies, sociopolitical issues, cultural heritage, and spirituality. From abstract to figurative, her paintings are  delightful to the eye, presented to the viewer sometimes as  a colorful display of sharp lines and geometrical shapes which point to cubism, and other times as vivid amorphous beauty timidly pointing to neo-expressionism.
“Looking Back to the Future” is a celebration of the artist’s journey and evolution over the years, showcasing a range of pieces that highlight her unique style and vision.
The Homme Gallery is thrilled to host this exhibit and share Dariana’s talent with the local community. Her work is not only visually stunning, but it also challenges viewers to think deeply about social issues in today’s society. We are honored to showcase her artistic journey and contributions to our local culture, as Dariana’s artistic collaboration to the local cultural scene is valuable. We invite you to join us in this artistic celebration!
Visitors to the exhibit can expect to see a variety of mixed mediums, as well as diversity is artistic styles. The exhibit will also feature some of Dariana’s most iconic works, which have been previously reviewed by the press, as well as new pieces not exhibited to the public before.

Admission to the exhibit is free, and all are welcome to attend. Please RSVP via email if you are planning to attend the opening reception. There will be live Latin jazz, and refreshments will be served. The gallery will be open by appointment only after the opening night. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience a decade of artistry by one of our city’s most talented artists.

About the Artist

Dariana Arias is an independent artist based in Washington D.C. Her artistic practice relies on the visual arts -analog and digital- and her works explore  socio-cultural attitudes, gender issues, and spirituality, as well as the occurrence of the creative flow during instinctual sessions of abstract automatic painting. Dariana is also exploring digital art via the NFT field. Dariana’s artistic journey started during childhood, when she learned the art of oil painting under the instruction of Venezuelan muralist, Edmundo Alvarado. Mentioned art lessons focused on the landscape art movement known in Venezuela as El Paisajismo Larense, which aimed at praising the beauty of rural Venezuelan landscapes.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the George Washington University.
