Gallery Imperato is pleased to announce an exhibition of works by Baltimore painter, Rob Sparrow Jones. Jones’ work blends a modern illustrative style with hints of futurism and figurative painting, echoing Piet Mondrian’s Trees and sharing Richard Diebenkorn’s penchant for updating Abstract Expressionism. The works on display express the simplicity of rural life and are imbued with a classic sense of Americana. Trees and unkept woods serve as the backdrop to many of his figures that are often portrayed in enigmatic narrative situations. Jones has a charming aptitude for expressing social relationships in the wild American landscape.

Rob Sparrow Jones has had solo shows and participated in juried exhibitions on both the East and West coasts. His work has shown at spaces such as The Still Life Gallery, Seattle, WA, The Williams and Morrison Gallery, Tacoma,WA and The International Print Center of New York City.

Jones was a finalist for the Fulbright in both 2005 and 2007 and appears in the current edition of New American Paintings, No. 69.
