This exhibition examines the unique visual languages employed by artisans in their creative processes, as they craft symbols, signs, and elements informed by personal, cultural, and emotional contexts. Each artwork serves as an artifact, conveying meaning and providing a tangible representation of concepts that are frequently overlooked or unarticulated. Through these creative expressions, artists reveal their cultural heritage, beliefs, and imaginative realms. The audience is invited to engage with and interpret the marks, symbols and gestures that define the spectrum of human expressions found within the works on display. The exhibition highlights the significance of safeguarding historical narratives and recognizing cultural heritage, particularly through enduring symbols and iconography associated with the African American experience.
