Internationally acclaimed violinist Benjamin Beilman joins Music Director Jonathon Heyward for Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 — one of the most cherished and lyrical concertos in the repertoire, filled with sweeping melodies and fiery virtuosity. Heyward also leads Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, a dramatic journey from shadow to triumph, crowned by one of the most exhilarating finales in all of symphonic music. Opening the program, Baltimore native and GRAMMY-nominated composer Jonathan Leshnoff’s Starburst shimmers with rhythmic vitality and radiant orchestral color.
