Bradley Milligan and Nicholas Wisniewski: Shoring | Opening Reception
Red Giant
403 N. Paca Street
Baltimore, MD
‘Shoring’ presents new work by Bradley Milligan and Nicholas Wisniewski. The title invokes the act of propping up a weakening structure, the accumulation of geological strata, and the constantly shifting zone where land meets water. Wisniewski carves images of local architecture into chunks of drywall excavated from abandoned row houses, working at the intersection of art and urban development in Baltimore. Milligan layers plaster, gesso, and wood, materials used for their strength, to underline an ethics of care and maintenance. Taken together, their works propose that the impulse to fix, to preserve, to hold something together even imperfectly, is not a consolation for a broken world but evidence that people keep imagining a better one.
‘Shoring’ is on view May 14–June 27, 2026. An opening reception will be held during the Bromo Art Walk on Thursday, May 14, 5–9pm. A closing reception will be held on Saturday, June 27, 6–8pm.
