INTERLUDE (Pt.1): A Solo Art Exhibit by Jasmin Manning | Opening Reception

Interlude: Pt.1 is the first part of a series of paintings by Jasmin Manning centering Black rest as a space for reflection, restoration, and transformation. In a world that so often defines Black life through labor and endurance, the artist chooses to insist on stillness.

In music, an interlude is a pause between movements — a moment to breathe before the rhythm continues. This exhibition holds that meaning for her. It exists in those in-between spaces where growth happens quietly, even when it’s not immediately visible.

The concept is driven by the Jasmin’s 35th and 36th years of life, as well as Taurus season. She invites viewers to slow down with her, to reflect, and to see rest as something powerful, necessary, and worthy of being witnessed.
