Bmore Music Picks is a weekly feature that highlights shows, concerts or events to check out in Baltimore (and the surrounding area). While it’s not a comprehensive events calendar, our picks are diverse and may highlight jazz, rock, folk, noise, punk, hip-hop, R&B, metal, experimental or just about any other sub-genre or style that helps make Baltimore’s music scene varied and vibrant.

Tuesday, January 6th – Tuesday Blues
Mobtown Ballroom, 861 Washington Blvd. at 9:00 PM – $7

Every Tuesday night at Mobtown Ballroom is a celebration of Blues and good times. Drop in at 9PM for a lesson and stick around after for the dance party all night long. Mobtown Ballroom is one of Charm City’s (sort of) hidden gems and is a must-visit evening destination.

Friday, January 9th – Janka Nabay & The Bubu Gang / Ami Dang / DJ Underdog
The Creative Alliance, 3134 Eastern Ave. at 8:00 PM – $15 at the door ($12 in advance), member pricing $12 at the door ($9 in advance)

This will be a cultural explosion and a damn good Friday night. Janka Nabay is a Sierra Leonian musician with his band The Bubu Gang and Ami Dang is equal parts world music sitarist and catchy electro-pop musician. Get your tickets in advance as they might sell out.
