Bmore Music Picks is a weekly feature that highlights shows, concerts or events to check out in Baltimore and the surrounding area. While it’s not a comprehensive events calendar, our picks are diverse and may highlight jazz, rock, folk, noise, punk, hip-hop, R&B, metal, experimental or just about any other sub-genre or style that helps make Baltimore’s music scene varied and vibrant.

For a more comprehensive events calendar, check out the Culture FlyShow Space, or Weekly.Citypaper.com.

Tuesday, March 23rd – Karaoke Forever at The Crown
The Crown (Blue Room), 1910 N. Charles St. at 9:00 PM – FREE

I’ve never been the biggest karaoke fan, but The Crown’s Tuesday karaoke night is a blast. No shame, no modesty, no holds-back. It really gets going around 10:30 or so and makes a good companion to whatever show is happening across the hall in the Red Room, which on this Tuesday happens to be a Wham City show.

Thursday, March 25th – Amen Dunes / Weyes Blood / Holy Ghost Party
Metro Gallery, 1700 N Charles St. at 9:00 PM – $10

My friend Phil Bolton of Surf Harp designed the poster for this show and really got me into Weyes Blood as a result. Holy Ghost Party played a BmoreArt/WTMD event last year and they were killer. Amen Dunes’ hypnotic folk-rock is entrancing. This is a must-see this week.

Phaze 10, 885 N. Howard St. at 8:00 PM – FREE

Lady K really brings the soul. Phaze10 is a hidden gem in Baltimore. Get there early and get some catfish fritters.
