There Is No Fear In Love | Gallery Reception
Thursday, August 29 :: 6-8pm
@ Chesapeake Arts Center

“There Is No Fear In Love,” a solo exhibition by Anna Divinagracia, is a photographic exploration delving into the profound influence of love across relationships, community, identity, and culture. Through a collection spanning six years, this series unveils the intricate dynamics that manifest the diverse expressions of devotion. It celebrates the transformative power of love, revealing how it fortifies individual character and fosters communal bonds. Embedded within the imagery is the notion that to love is to witness and reflect, where we become mirrors of each other’s light. From archival pieces to recent works, Divinagracia’s body of art invites viewers to contemplate the fearless depths of love’s impact.

This exhibit is on view in our Gallery 194 from August 10, 2024 – September 5, 2024.

This double feature will be at the Mobtown Ballroom on:

Saturday August 31 @ 8:00 p.m.

Sunday September 1 @ 8:00 p.m.

Saturday September 7 @ 8:00 p.m

Sunday September 8 @ 8:00 p.m.

Tickets for sale now on Eventbrite!

Details about the pieces & the Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking? collective:

Well Ends Well That’s All/Greetings From…” These two pieces have complementary themes – travel and exhaustion – but differing devising processes. “Greetings From…” is a collective creation led by two of our members over the course of the summer, and “Well Ends Well That’s All” is led by a first-time director guiding a devising process in short intense bursts. “Greetings From…” will take you to a mysterious place where lost postcards have an important life, and “Well Ends Well That’s All” will bring you on an amazing journey in which experiences of alienation can be explored in dramatic and meaningful ways!

The Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking? Collective is a group of people who, through spontaneity and a deep well of knowledge and practice, create thought-provoking and humorous theatrical and theatrically-adjacent art. Because our collective works in a variety of spaces that host different types of performing arts – poetry, comedy, performance art, music, and storytelling – we are a connecting force between different DIY art scenes that can often feel isolated. In recent years, we have noticed that Baltimore has lost many theater companies and cultural institutions. Informed by this fact, our collective makes a conscious attempt to produce novel art within our economic limits by leveraging the support of our creative community. Our aim is to provide a resilient alternative form of community theater that is still ambitious in scope and that feels secure in its longevity. It is easier to dream when you know you have time. Join us, support us, observe us from a distance, or very very close…We welcome it!

Yéigo Action Grant
deadline September 10
posted by First Peoples Fund

The Yéigo Action Grant provides support for the growing landscape of Native artists and culture bearers who need financial assistance with a professional development opportunity or towards a hardship that is hindering their creative practice.

This program offers grants between $100 and $5,000 for individual Native artists and culture bearers. First Peoples Fund (FPF) finds it essential to support artists in their times of need, especially when their work is impacted by sudden hardship. This grant’s name incorporates the Diné word yéigo, often used as a phrase of encouragement that can mean “keep going” or “don’t give up.”

While some requests related to a current artistic project may be eligible, please note that Yéigo Action Grants are not intended to assist with funding new artist projects or to provide general support for an existing project.
