Departures and Arrivals: Investigating the Vocabulary of the Contemporary Landscape

July 6 – August 7, 2010
Reception: Saturday, July 17 from 1:30 – 4 p.m.
Artists: Laura Amussen, Zlata Baum & Jamy Sheridan, Isabel Manalo, Kim Manfredi, Katherine Mann, Jiha Moon and Soledad Salame.

Curator: Cara Ober

Departures and Arrivals features artists who cull visual elements from the traditional landscape, but do not make work about the natural world. Rather, the artists harness the familiarity and immediacy of the biological realm in order to explore personal memory, psychological states, and non-physical modes of place. This exhibition features six artists and one collaborative team who distill the vocabulary of their natural surroundings into a succinct and personal vision.
