First Flush, a monthly daytime electronic music listening experience with ceremonial tea, comes back again in September. With its evolving identity, the September event will be feature two stages: 10:00 – 12:00 Experimental Sound Stage 12:00 – 4:00 High-Energy Techno This event will feature: Mahjong Workshop by NAAAP Baltimore NA Bar by the Club Car Baltimore Dim Sum Jelly by ENTEI Art Studio Projection Mapping by Brent0n ### In recent years, younger generations in China have explored ways of combining underground club culture with drug-free, health-oriented lifestyles rooted in the concept of 养生 (yǎng shēng, “holistic well-being”). On one hand, this phenomenon has created new cultural intersections between tea culture and a techno scene that has historically been Western-centric. On the other, it brings techno music into daytime settings, creating an accessible entry point for broader audiences. It also reclaims daytime public space for the queer and subcultural communities that have long been central to the underground scene, making visible forms of identity and self-expression that are often associated with nightlife and after-hours venues. Attendees of the event are welcome to bring books, sketchpads, and laptops to enjoy the sofa lounge throughout the day. Conceived as a Sunday daytime gathering, the event offers a high-energy third space dedicated to focused work, reading, and creative thinking.
