Garden Art Party – Whitelock Edition

The Garden Art Party is an invitation to gather in community on the sacred grounds of local community gardens across Baltimore to immerse ourselves into art making and nature interactions for the purposes of health, connectivity, and joy. The series has taken place primarily in the “Black Butterfly” of West Baltimore including Park Heights and Sandtown since 2022. The event typically attracts 100 people per event and is rain or shine. The Garden Art Party returns to the Whitelock Community Farm, and will feature local creatives, including performers and culinary artists. GAP is led by Olu Butterfly Woods, Sache Jones and Dirk J. Art. Each Garden Art Party includes the following elements: an intergenerational open mic visual eco art/craft-making community gardening experience/ plant workshop installation/performances fresh food potluck Inspired by the generosity of such matriarchal genius as Bea Gaddy, the sustainability of Gullah and Caribbean culture, and the gritty glitter of Baltimore style. The art is a celebration of our village, creating a circle of engagement with hands crafting, touching the earth and the food that goes into our body, as a social experience.
