Jonna McKone: Slow Drift | Opening Reception + Talk

At Salisbury’s University Gallery, Baltimore-based artist Jonna McKone presents Slow Drift, a contemporary photography exhibition exploring connections between communities, landscapes, climate change, identity, and colonial legacies from November 5-December 16. Opening is the evening of November 5th.

Slow Drift is a long-term project spanning photography, oral history, family archives, and abstract photo experiments exploring how colonial histories of extraction and land ownership have shaped the land, communities, and environmental histories of Maryland. In this exploration, is a wider project about memory, land ownership, resilience, identity and climate change. This work conveys time passing as landscapes, the built environment, vegetation, objects and personal stories that connect to these sites across generations, remain, resist and evolve.
