Our next Open Critique will take place Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Baltimore City Crit Club, 3500 Parkdale Avenue.
This will be our final Open Critique of the year, so if you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to bring your work into the space and participate, this is it!
The critique will be happening alongside the Baltimore Citywide Open Studio Tour, when artists throughout the city open their studios to the public. Parkdale Studios will be participating in the tour, which means our building will be full of artists opening their doors, showing new work, and welcoming people into a place they may be experiencing for the first time.
In the middle of all of that activity, Crit Club will be opening its walls to YOU.
If you have work you’ve been wanting to get in front of other artists and enthusiasts, this is your opportunity. Maybe your studio is in your basement. Maybe you’re between studios. Maybe you don’t have a studio at all. Maybe you haven’t shown anything in a long time. None of that matters.
The Open Critique exists to give artists an opportunity to put work on the wall, get it out of isolation, and have a real conversation about it with other artists and members of the public.

to John, Sean, Willa, bcc: me
Hi everyone,
First, we want to thank everyone from Red Giant who participated in this past weekend’s critique. Isaac, Shea, Ellie, Patrick, and Mary, you all put a tremendous amount of effort into making this exhibition happen, and it meant a lot to us to have the opportunity to work with you.
The show was incredible, and I think everyone who was there walked away genuinely provoked by the conversation that came out of the critique. It was another one we won’t forget, and we’re very happy to have been a part of it.
Documentation from the exhibition will be hitting our Instagram and website soon, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, if you haven’t familiarized yourself with Red Giant Gallery on Paca Street, you should. Isaac, Shea, and Ellie all have studios there, and Red Giant has quickly become an exciting part of Baltimore’s contemporary art community. Patrick and Mary have put an incredible amount of time and energy into maintaining an ambitious exhibition schedule and creating another place in the city where artists can meet, show work, and engage with one another. We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with them.
With that behind us, we are rocketing directly into our next piece of programming.
FINAL OPEN CRITIQUE OF 2026
OCTOBER 10TH AT 2:00 P.M.

The Open Critique exists to give artists an opportunity to put work on the wall, get it out of isolation, and have a real conversation about it with other artists and members of the public.
There is no jury process and no expectation that the work be part of a finished exhibition. Bring something you want people to see and something you want to talk about.
The critique will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10th, while the Open Studio Tour is underway throughout Parkdale Studios. This should make for a particularly exciting Open Crit, with artists, visitors, friends, and members of Baltimore’s art community moving through the building throughout the day.
PARTICIPATING ARTISTS
Work drop-off will take place Sunday, October 4th from 6:30–7:30 p.m.
Wall space will be first come, first served. There are no strict size limitations, but please be reasonable with the amount and scale of work you bring so that we can make room for everyone who wants to participate.
The environment will be casual and conversational. This is about getting artists together, putting work in front of one another, and creating the kind of direct exchange that Crit Club was built around.
Food and refreshments will be available, and participating artists are not required to stay for the entire Open Studio event.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
If you would like to participate, please email our Open Critique Coordinator, Willa Richardson, at [email protected].
Willa will respond with a Google Form for participating artists to fill out with the information we need to organize the critique and your work.
Whether you’re bringing work or just coming to participate in the conversation, we hope you’ll join us.
