Reggae & Ska Fest

Sun Rider 9 Productions presents the Reggae & Ska Fest at
The Recher NEXT Saturday, October 3, 2026, an all-day, all-ages
celebration of reggae and ska featuring an exceptional lineup of
national, regional and local artists, including Culture featuring
Kenyatta Hill, John Brown’s Body, The Pietasters, Jah Works, The
Players Band, Eastern Standard Time, The Loving Paupers, Higher
Education, Yellow Dubmarine, and DJ Selah.

The festival runs from 12 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with doors opening at
11:30 a.m., and will also serve as an Active Military and Veterans
Appreciation Day, with free admission for all active-duty military
personnel and veterans.

Culture is an internationally renowned roots reggae powerhouse that
emerged from Jamaica in the late 1970s with a string of landmark
albums, including Two Sevens Clash, which was named Reggae Album of
the Year in 1977 and later included by Rolling Stone on its list of
the 50 coolest records of all time. The New York Times described
Culture as “the leading exponent of conscious reggae.” Today, Culture
featuring Kenyatta Hill, son of the late Joseph Hill, continues his
father’s legacy, bringing the group’s catalog of classic songs and
roots reggae to audiences around the world while headlining major
international festivals including Rototom Sunsplash in Spain.

John Brown’s Body has been a cornerstone of the modern American reggae
movement for more than two decades. Blending deep roots reggae with
dub, jazz, electronic and funk influences, the band has released a
catalog of acclaimed albums and earned a reputation as one of the most
powerful live acts in the U.S. reggae scene.

The Pietasters are among the most influential bands to emerge from the
American ska revival of the 1990s and remain a driving force in the
genre. Jah Works, founded in 1993, has been a staple of the East Coast
reggae scene for more than three decades.  The Players Band, a veteran
Mid-Atlantic ska band founded in Catonsville in 1999, brings more than
25 years of high-energy ska, reggae and rocksteady to the festival.
Eastern Standard Time, founded in 1995, is one of the longest-running
traditional ska bands in the United States. Extensive touring
throughout the U.S. and internationally has made the group an enduring
part of the modern American ska scene. Yellow Dubmarine has built a
loyal following through its reggae and dub reinterpretations of
Beatles classics.  The Loving Paupers blend lovers rock, rocksteady
and dub and have earned recognition within the modern traditional
reggae revival. Higher Education is a staple of the Baltimore
reggae-rock scene, known for energetic live performances and an
eclectic blend of reggae, rock and related influences.  DJ Selah will
keep the music moving throughout the day with reggae, ska, rocksteady
and related sounds between performances.

Reggae & Ska Fest offers Mid-Atlantic music fans a rare opportunity to
experience foundational Jamaican roots reggae alongside some of the
defining names in American reggae and ska, together with a deep lineup
of established regional artists, all under one roof at The Recher.
